Art Nouveau Dragonfly | 2015

Art Nouveau Dragonfly | Original Design | 2015

About: I created this costume to take advantage of the breathtaking environments in Iceland as part of a trip friends and I dubbed #CosplayIceland. Dragonflies have a special meaning to my family and I as a symbol of remembrance for those we have lost. I wanted to pay homage to René Lalique’s stunning Art Nouveau Dragonfly-woman Ornament and create something delicate to contrast the stunning black sand beach in Reynisfjara Iceland. After shooting in Iceland fellow cosplayer Lisa Lou Who created a pair of new dresses for us to shoot in the Como Park Zoo & Conservatory for a more whimsical set!

Photography & Makeup:

Collaborators:

  • The #CosplayIceland team also included cosplayer Rachel “Reilena” Day and Philip Kalmes, who was our “assistant and cosplay transport specialist!”
  • Jewelry: The jewelry and accessories were made from scratch in collaboration with my mom, made from pearls, crystals, and brass findings!
  • Dress 2.0: Sewn by Lisa Lou Who and with accents added by myself.
